3sNews 4月13日消息，據(jù)Google與開放地理空間聯(lián)盟的雙方確認，KML將成為OGC標準，OGC將會負責維護及擴展KML格式。用Google的話來說，那便是KML成為了地理信息的國際標準，就像像互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上的HTML標準那樣。 以后所創(chuàng)建的KML文件，將可以被更多產(chǎn)品支持，而Google則當然也更樂于看到自己的標準被全球推行。你可以通過Google的高級搜索，指定搜索KML格式文件，以獲得互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上豐富的KML文件資源。

KML是Google Earth/Maps最先支持的一種基于XML語法和文件格式的文件，用于描述和保存各種類型的地理信息。KML還有一種壓縮后的格式KMZ，同樣也被 Google地圖產(chǎn)品支持。你可以用Google Earth導出KML文件，然后用Google Maps打開。
